Group lessons with caregiver and child in the water. Develop water confidence and safety skills for your child in a fun and interactive way.
Our Swimsmart programme is available at Graham Condon, Jellie Park, Pioneer, Taiora QEII and Te Pou Toetoe: Linwood Pool.
Lessons are 25-minutes long and run parallel with school terms.
- Monday to Friday from 9am.
- Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8am.

Babies and toddlers - parent and child lessons *$10.80 per week*25% discount available only for Community Services, Secondary Student, KiwiAble and Hāpai access card holders.

Classes

Tiny Turtles
An introductory course for caregivers and babies aged six months to 1.5 years. Participants will learn a variety of water safety skills and holds for the front and back while developing water confidence and independence through games and songs in a fun and friendly environment.
Skills include water safety, blowing bubbles, submerging and kicking.

Starfish
For caregivers and children aged 1.5 years to 2.5 years to help gain water confidence and independence in a fun and friendly environment through games and songs.
Skills include water safety skills, blowing bubble, submerging, floating, propulsion and kicking.

Frogs
For children aged 2.5 years to 3 years. Designed as a transition group, it emphasizes the holistic development of the children in a supportive environment that encourages exploration and discovery through play and interaction. We are aiming to encourage more independence in the water while having less support from their caregiver.
Skills include water safety, blowing bubbles, submerging, floating, propulsion and kicking so that children can safely move themselves through the water independently.
