Jellie Park Recreation and Sport Centre will be undergoing scheduled maintenance, renewal and strengthening work from April 2026.

The centre will close temporarily from Tuesday 7 April.

The reopening of the outdoor pools, gym and group fitness area is planned for November 2026, and the indoor pools are expected to reopen within the first quarter of 2027.

Relocation of Gym and Group Fitness services

Our Jellie Park Gym and Group Fitness services – except for Aqua classes and Virtual Group Fitness classes – will temporarily relocate next door to the Jellie Park Fitness Centre (formerly Apollo Projects Centre) during the closure, beginning on Friday 10 April. This will allow these services to continue relatively undisrupted. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope you enjoy using this fantastic space.

If you would like to have a sneak peek before we move the Fitness Centre over, we will be running short 15-minute tours of the facility for two weeks from Monday 9 March. Please contact the main reception desk at Jellie Park for times and to register for one of the tours.

Jellie Park Aqua Fitness relocated classes:

• Wednesday 8am Aqua Fit is relocating to Matatiki Hornby Centre. Classes will be at the same time, beginning Wednesday 8 April.
• Friday 8.45am Aqua Fit is relocating to Graham Condon. Classes will be on Friday at the earlier time of 8.15am, beginning Friday 10 April.
• Aqua Fit classes at Graham Condon, Monday 8.40am and Wednesday 8.40am, will receive an additional lane to increase capacity.

Parking for Gym and Group Fitness members

We kindly ask that you continue to use the Jellie Park car park during the closure period. We will send an email to all members with detailed parking information for those using the Jellie Park Fitness Centre closer to the closure date.

Alternative facilities

As part of your membership or multi-visit pass, you can enjoy all our Recreation and Sport Centres.

Your closest alternative facilities are Graham Condon and Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre and Matatiki Hornby Centre (pool only). You can see our full network of Recreation and Sport Centres here.

Membership and multi-visit pass options

• Gym and/or pool members can request to freeze their membership for the closure period through their Recreation and Sport online account or at the Jellie Park front desk.
• Those with a Gym & Pool membership can also downgrade to a gym only or pool only membership during the closure.
• Multi-visit pass holders can also request to have their card’s expiry date extended for the equivalent time the closure is in place. To arrange an extension, customers need to speak to the Customer Experience team or email us.

Swimsmart lessons

The Jellie Park Swim programme will be impacted for approximately four school terms: from Term 2, 2026 until part way through Term 1, 2027.

Due to the length of the closure, all bookings in the Jellie Park Swimsmart programme will end by Thursday 2 April, 2026.

We will be offering more lessons and spaces at Matatiki Hornby Centre, Graham Condon and Parakiore and encourage you to continue your Swimsmart journey by booking into one of these locations.

What’s happening at Jellie Park

We’ll be completing earthquake strengthening, upgrading the heating, air conditioning and pool water filtration, and undertaking re-cladding, internal reconfigurations, extensive refurbishment and general maintenance.

The upgrades will improve the facility’s earthquake resilience, energy efficiency, air and water quality, and overall appearance.

We appreciate your patience as this work is being carried out. We anticipate welcoming you back to an updated and refreshed Jellie Park Recreation and Sport Centre from November 2026 onwards.
