New Zealand’s first fully inclusive aquatic sensory space.
Designed to foster exploration, confidence and fun in and with water, the Sensory Aqua Centre is part of New Zealand’s largest aquatic and indoor recreation and leisure venue, Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre.
Sensory Aqua gives you a sense of freedom to explore, play and control your water play in a predictable aquatic environment.
Water is fun and a great way to see how things work, while providing an opportunity to meet individual needs and sensory diets.

- Water Wheelchairs - five available (three standard and two tilt models) for easy pool access.
- Accessible changing facilities - two fully equipped, wheelchair-friendly change rooms located next to the Sensory Aqua Centre.
- Building Access - wheelchair access through all main entrances for smooth navigation.
- Low arousal access - pre-arranged entry options for a calm, low-stimulation experience when needed.
